11.13 loadings used in negative reinforcement tables

Superimposed  loadings include for superimposed dead load ( such as carpet, partitions, ceilings etc)  as well as Live Loads.

An allowance of 0.5kPa has been included within the tables for superimposed Dead Loads. Where loadings greater than than this is present within a building floor, the difference should be subtracted from the available live load presented in the manual. For example, if a superimposed dead load of 1.0 kPa is present, along with an associated live load  of 4.0kPa then the 5.0kPa live load tables must be used :

LL            = 4.0kPa + (1.0kPa - 0.5kPa)
                = 4.5kPa < 5.0kPa => adequate
