11.14 live loadings / fire ratings used

Design Live loadings used have been rationalized to 1.5 kPa, 3.0 kPa, 4.0 kPa and 5.0 kPa on the basis that specific loading are catered for as follows:

(i)  1.5 kPa Live Load
Used for domestic household designs excluding balconies and garages. As domestic residences have FHC1 classification, FRR requirements have been limited to 30, 60, and 90 minutes.

(ii) 3.0 kPa Live Load
Used for educational, institutional, assembly areas with fixed seating, and industrial workrooms with lightweight plant.
Office loading which has a live load of 2.5 kPa, while conservative is included here.
Educational, Institutional, cinemas, offices, grandstands etc generally have a FHC2 classification and accordingly, tables include 30,60 and 90 minute FRR.

(iii) 4.0 kPa Live Load
Includes shop floors, grandstands with fixed seating, general commercial facilities, broadcasting studios and all balconies except for domestic residences.
It has been assumed that most situations where 4.0 kPa is applicable, is also generally associated with FHC2 and accordingly tables include 60, 90 and 120 minute FRR. The inclusion of higher FRR than for 3.0kPa is in recognition that FHC3 also applies in some situations.

(iv) 5.0 kPa Live Load
Industrial workrooms,k grandstands and assembly areas with moveable seating, stages, and general storage areas.
Workrooms and storage areas (except where high fire loading is involved, or where storage above 3m occurs) have a FHC3 classification and tables include 30, 90,120,and 180 minute FRR.
