7.3 type 3 - multiple simply supported - unrestained
Type 3 slabs consist of a series of simply supported spans which are carried on a series of beams or walls.
The slab is not design for continuity over supports and consequently the slab should have appropriately designed jointing in the form of saw and dowell joints placed at support locations. Careful consideration is required to ensure that adequate bearing and load transfer occur at supports.
As with Type1 slabs, minimum secondary reinforcing can be utilized. Aspects of Fire Design are also the same as for type 1 slabs.Span tables for type 3 slabs are the same as for type 1 slabs which have been included within this manual.
